Human Touch Super Novo: retired, still priced high

The original Super Novo remains a capable machine with the widest program library Human Touch built and voice control that actually works. Two things changed under research. Human Touch has discontinued it, and the warranty a 2026 buyer would inherit is nothing at all.

This review covers the original 2019 chair only. The Super Novo 2.0, 3.0 and X are separate machines that Human Touch names separately in its own warranty, and their specifications do not describe this one.

The maker has moved on, and the URL moved with it

Three checks on Human Touch’s own site say the same thing. The legacy product URL for this chair now redirects to a later model. The store returns nothing for this generation. Its own search suggests the successors instead. That redirect is a trap for anyone researching the chair, because citing the old address for 2019 specifications silently serves a different machine.

What that leaves is dealer stock, refurbished units and private sales. Which matters more than usual here, because of what the warranty says about exactly those channels.

A used one is an uncovered one

Human Touch’s current warranty page still lists this chair by name, in the tier granting one year of in-home service, three years of parts and five years of structural framework. Two clauses then take that away from almost every route a 2026 buyer has. Coverage is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser. Separately, products bought from unauthorized resellers, third-party marketplace sellers, liquidation sales or private sellers are not eligible at all.

Read those together against a discontinued chair and the conclusion is plain: unless you are buying new and unregistered from an authorized dealer, you are buying an uncovered chair. Price it that way.

The tier itself needs decomposing too, because three sellers gave us three different answers for one chair. One advertises five years of in-home service, five of parts and five of structural. Another states a flat five years with no breakdown. Only one restated the maker’s actual tier correctly. Human Touch’s own advice article, published in February 2026, lists parts-only-after-the-first-year among the warranty red flags to watch for, which is a description of its own Super Novo tier.

Fine print worth reading before you commit

Parts may be free while freight is not: shipping, brokerage and customs are the owner’s. Total warranty service, counting parts, labour and freight together, may not exceed the original purchase price. Four component classes never get a technician in any tier, namely remotes, body pads, pillows and the foot and calf massage unit.

Three schedules that the instrument depends on, covering replacement deductibles, distance-charge zones and parts-and-service deductibles, are stated to be attached and are published nowhere. The document also defines an Electronics Warranty in its definitions and then gives its coverage table no electronics column. Both are drafting gaps rather than exclusions, and both mean a buyer cannot read the whole contract.

What the chair is, and what it is not

Thirty-eight preconfigured programs is the widest library Human Touch built, and voice control runs them without the remote. Sessions are selectable at 10, 20 or 30 minutes with 10 as the default. Back-massage intensity has five settings. Heat covers two zones, backrest and foot or calf, at three levels each, defaulting to off. A battery backup lets you incline once to get out of the chair during a power cut, which the marketing never mentions and which is exactly the sort of detail a manual is for.

It is a 3D chair. The manual labels the back-intensity axis 3D and defines the three 4D programs as variable-speed routines rather than a fourth mechanical axis. Dealers sell it as 4D. Human Touch never did.

The stretch routine is aggressive enough that the manual warns first-time users to keep the remote in hand, and repeats that warning on a second page. Take it literally.

The fit figures are not the maker’s

Fifty-four pages of manual carry no minimum and no maximum user height. The five foot to six foot nine inch window quoted across the channel comes from dealers. One selling reviewer quotes a 320 lb capacity, and 320 lb is this chair’s shipping weight, sitting in the maker’s own specification table a few rows away from where a capacity would be.

That is the clearest example on this site of how a number acquires authority by repetition. We publish neither figure. What we can publish is the chair’s own footprint: 63 inches long upright, 33.25 inches wide, 45.5 inches tall, needing four inches behind and 24 inches of clear floor in front.

Every spec we checked

Six values did not survive the documents, and two of them are Human Touch disagreeing with Human Touch.

Known issues

  • Documented issue

The manufacturer has discontinued it, and the maker’s own URL now serves a different chair.

The legacy product URL redirects to a later model, the maker’s store returns nothing for this generation, and its search suggests the successors instead. Citing that URL for 2019 specifications silently swaps generations, which is how sibling numbers end up in reviews of this chair.

  • Documented issue

A used or marketplace purchase carries no manufacturer coverage at all.

The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser, and separately excludes units bought from unauthorized resellers, third-party marketplace sellers, liquidation sales and private sellers. With the chair discontinued, those are the routes that remain.

  • Documented issue

The warranty is incomplete as published.

Three schedules covering replacement deductibles, distance-charge zones and parts-and-service deductibles are incorporated by reference and stated to be attached, and none is published anywhere on the site. The instrument also defines an Electronics Warranty in its definitions and then omits any electronics column from its coverage table.

  • Documented issue

In-home service is narrower than the phrase suggests, and four component classes never get a technician.

Remotes, body pads, pillows and foot or calf massage units are carved out of in-home service in every tier. Parts may be free while freight, brokerage and customs are the owner’s, and total warranty service including parts, labour and freight may not exceed the original purchase price.

  • Documented issue

There is no consumer parts catalogue and no technician locator.

Four parts and accessory paths on the maker’s store return nothing usable, and the only locator published finds retail dealers rather than service technicians. One genuine part for this generation is documented as obtainable, a handheld remote from a long-established retailer, and everything beyond it is undocumented.

  • Recurring owner complaint

The maker’s own documents disagree with each other in several places.

Wall clearance is four inches in the manual and two in the press material. The heat description differs across three maker statements. Colourways differ between two press releases six months apart. The companion app carries three different names across three documents. On one manual page the prose gives one variation count for a program and the table beside it gives another.

  • Recurring owner complaint

The stretch program is aggressive enough that the maker warns about it twice.

The manual tells first-time users to keep the remote in hand during the Yoga Studio stretch and repeats the caution on a second page. Worth taking literally rather than as boilerplate.

What owners report

Nothing we can stand behind yet, and we would rather say so than pad the page. The owner-evidence lane of this research had not returned when we published, so no forum, video or complaint evidence is counted here and no owner-report figure appears in our metrics line. We will add the section, and the count, when the evidence is in hand.

How it grades out

Ease of useVery goodThirty-eight preconfigured programs, voice control that works, selectable 10, 20 or 30 minute sessions, five back-intensity settings and a battery backup that lets you incline out of the chair during a power cut.
WarrantyFairOne year of in-home service, three of parts, five structural is mid-pack at any price and thin at this one. The maker’s own advice article names that structure as a red flag, and three schedules the instrument depends on are unpublished.
ServiceabilityFairA real support line and a claimed nationwide technician network, against no published technician locator, four component classes excluded from in-home service, and owner-paid freight on warranty parts.
Parts availabilityFairDocumented for exactly one component: a genuine remote is purchasable new from an established retailer. Everything mechanical or electronic beyond that is undocumented for this generation.
Build confidenceGoodA 54-page engineering manual with a complete specification table, three languages that agree with each other, and a named US company behind it. The internal contradictions are documentation slips rather than gaps in the document.
Pressure controlGoodGenuine 3D rollers with five intensity settings and two heat zones at three levels each. It is not the fourth axis the channel advertises.
Room efficiencyFairFour inches behind and 24 inches of clear floor in front, on a chair measuring 63 inches upright. Generous by flagship standards and not a small-room chair.

Massage quality, noise and fit range are ungraded. The owner pool is not yet in hand, and Human Touch publishes no user height range for this generation to grade fit against.

A retired flagship, priced like a current one

The original Super Novo is still a capable chair with the widest program library Human Touch built and voice control that works. Two research findings temper it. Human Touch's own manual publishes no user height range at all, so the 5 foot to 6 foot 9 fit claim repeated across the channel comes from dealers rather than the maker, and one selling reviewer quotes a 320 lb figure that is the chair's shipping weight rather than a user capacity. Dealers also contradict each other on whether it is still buyable. Buy it only at a real discount against a current 3.0, from a seller whose warranty terms you have in writing.

Listing checked August 20, 2026. Price shown at Amazon. Coverage is void on marketplace and private purchases, so confirm the seller is an authorized dealer.

Super Novo questions, answered once

Is the original Human Touch Super Novo still made?

No. Human Touch has discontinued it. Its old product URL now redirects to a later model, the store returns nothing for this generation, and the search suggests the successors instead. What remains is dealer stock, refurbished units and private sales.

How much space does the Super Novo need behind it?

Four inches, per the manual, which states the figure in the setup section and again in the specification table. Human Touch’s own press material said two inches and the channel repeated that. The manual also asks for 24 inches of clear floor in front so the footrest can deploy.

Does a used Super Novo still have a warranty?

No, on two independent grounds. The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser, and it separately excludes anything bought from unauthorized resellers, marketplace sellers, liquidation sales or private sellers. With the chair discontinued, those are the routes that remain.

Is the Super Novo a 4D massage chair?

It is a 3D chair that ships three programs branded 4D. The manual labels the back-intensity axis 3D and defines the 4D programs as variable-speed routines rather than a fourth mechanical axis. Dealers use 4D as a hardware claim, and Human Touch never did.

Update history
  • August 20, 2026 Migrated to the v1.1 evidence protocol with the v1.3 reader-first layer. Corrects wall clearance from two inches to the four the maker’s manual states twice, withdraws the fit figures in circulation, and separates the 4D program branding from the 3D mechanism the manual documents. Records that the chair is discontinued and that a used or marketplace purchase carries no manufacturer coverage on two independent grounds.
